Just For Kicks is a great documentary showing how the sneaker culture came to be. Showing its foundations in hip-hop with Run DMC up to 50 cent with RBK, the influence of Michael Jordan and Nike, the dedication to sneaker hunting and collecting, and symbols the sneaker played in the cultures of the last 20 or so years. From an advertising point of view, it always reverts back to an honest view on how businesses have been able to capitalize on, and propel, the sneaker movement. I was able to edit some clips and make my own highlight reel of the film. Check it out:

ROFL! This is when those Superheroes get old or overeating. They are the illustrations from an Italian cartoonist Donald Soffritti. Poor spiderman, he’s running out of his white liquid.
… and finally the Dark Knight and Robin
Have you watched the Iron Man movie? If you children are obsessed with it then I think you should get them the Iron Man Helmet. This Iron Man mask is officially licensed by Marvel Comics. Its sturdy construction makes it a great collector’s piece, or it can be the topper for a seriously detailed Iron Man costume. It’s available at http://www.80stees.com for $60 but too bad it’s out of stock.
It reminds of Magneto, can Magneto from X-men win the Iron man? Mr.rumor said that there will be a “Magneto Movie” in 2009.
Iron Man movie is coming, Iron Man fan Jin-Saotome did this Hulkbuster Iron Man Figure. It was made using the Iron Monger body with new feet, arm, and shoulder sections of an Armored Core import figure and a regular Mark IV IM head. very cool!
SEGA revealed several unlockable outfits in the new game. Iron Man, a commanding Super Hero who built his greatest weapon- his suit – is on a mission to protect the world from the weapons he helped to create. Besides you have seen the classic red and gold, the dull metal prototype uses in the game and film, which one you like? I like the Extrmis version. [ Link ]
Torrentfreak has published a Top 10 list of the most downloaded TV shows through the bittorrent tracker Mininova during 2007. The winner was Heroes 2.4 million downloads of the most popular episode. The actual download count is of course much higher becauese there’s always more torrents for each episode and Mininova isn’t the only tracker site – but I still think it’s interesting to see that it has been downloaded twice as many times as Top Gear, number 2 on their list. Here’s the full list:

Hey guys, still into Transformers? A seller is offering a Saleen Barricade replica from the Transformers movie at eBay. It looks the same like the one in the movie but with a few changes.
“To punish and enslave” has been changed to “Power in the hands of a few”, and the 911 decal has been switched to a 411 promoting the Saleen web site. The light bar is also absent, probably to help prevent the vehicle from being mistaken for an actual police vehicle”
Flickr user, Marcello Poletti, has begun the daunting task of compiling a library of The Galactically Hot Women of Star Trek (The Original Series). He’s up to 72, and still going. Personally, I think it’s time well spent. 🙂
Warner Bros. has released the new trailer for “The Dark Knight” (Batman Begins 2), starring Christian Bale, Heath Legder, Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Micheal Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman.
I think, in superhero language, this is equivalent to Joker + Batman, written in a heart, carved in the side of an old oak tree. But maybe it’s meant to be more threatening than that.
PS: If you go here and click on the joker cards, one will open a high-res version of the poster, and the other will open a window to register for tickets to a showing, presumably of Joker’s first heist.

“Lettering buffs and cinephiles alike may enjoy this lovely Flickr set containing final frames of classic films. Romantically, these hearken back to an age before typesetting replaced hand-lettering as a matter of convenience, but sociologically they tell another interesting story as well.”

Three friends spent three months in China building a large robotic looking creature out of a Citroen C2. The thing stands 15 feet tall and has been named X2. It is loosely based on Bumblebee and Jazz from the Transformers movie. They wanted to make an Optimus Prime, but said it would stand over 7 stories tall (and be a lot cooler). The legs can bend a little and the fingers move, but that’s about it for transforming capabilities. Making it NOTHING LIKE A TRANSFORMER. It’s a robot sculpture that doesn’t do shit (except look cool).
When you like something you can’t have it, what do you do? That’s right, draw it out. Tony sent me this, the speed-painting. Wow! That’s really amazing. It is done by Nico Di Mattia, an artist, illustrator or an animator. Check out these Transformers he drawn, the Bumblebee and the Optimus Prime. They are drawn using photoshop. The Bumblebee took 19 hours to complete while the Optimus Prime took only 11 hours.
A beautiful Flickr set of famous film endings.
British-born Hugo Tillman spent two years in China, interviewing leading artists. The conversations ranged around their philosophies, fantasies, and their childhoods. From those conversations, Tillman constructed a full-sized set, a sort of 3-D map of the inner psyche. Then he invited the artists to perform a scene within that set. And then he shot his images. An unexpected, fascinating idea, no?
This is a cool new application that could very well be the end of slideshows as we know them. I always wanted to create something artistic with my images and Animato has provided an easy tool for rendering striking video montages. Users can upload images from their PC or popular hosting sites and select audio from disc or stock offerings.
So, create your professional-looking music video based on only your uploaded images and music: A N I M O T O.
A special dedication to the people of New Orleans.
It’s purpose is to ask a simple question.
The movie Iron Man won’t be out til next May, but you can see the trailer now. And yes, you get to see Iron Man, although he is traveling pretty fast. Link
